CITY OF SUMMERSIDE TO HOST MHL ALUMNI GALA AND ALL-STAR GAME DURING LEAGUE'S 60TH SEASON

SUMMERSIDE, PE – The City of Summerside is pleased to announce that we have been selected to host the Maritime Junior Hockey League’s (MHL) Alumni Gala and All-Star Game, presented by Maritime Sleep Clinic, January 31 and February 1, 2027, at Credit Union Place.
The events will bring together current players, alumni, fans, sponsors and community leaders to celebrate the League’s 60th season and recognize the players, builders and contributors who have helped shape six decades of Maritime hockey.
The celebration will begin with the MHL Alumni Gala on Sunday, January 31, recognizing accomplished former players and contributors to the League’s history. The excitement will then move to the ice on Monday, February 1, when the top players of the MHL gather in Summerside for the MHL All-Star Game.
Summerside has established a strong reputation as a sport-hosting destination in Atlantic Canada and is home to the MHL’s Summerside Western Capitals. The community recently hosted the 2026 Centennial Cup in May, welcoming teams and visitors from across the country and further demonstrating its ability to deliver major hockey events.
“Coming off a successful national-level Junior A hockey event this past spring, we’re proud to once again welcome high-calibre hockey to Summerside and Credit Union Place,” said Tanner Doiron, Director of Communications & Events for the City of Summerside. “Events like the MHL All-Star Game and Alumni Gala give us an opportunity to attract participants, families and fans to our city during the winter season, while showcasing our facilities, hospitality and everything Summerside has to offer. It’s another great opportunity to build on our reputation as a strong host community for major sporting events, and we look forward to working with the MHL.”
The events are also expected to provide a boost for local hotels, restaurants and businesses, while offering visitors an opportunity to experience Summerside’s hospitality and attractions.
“As we celebrate our 60th season, the MHL Alumni Gala and All-Star Game provide a great opportunity to recognize the people who have helped shape our League and showcase the talent and communities that make the MHL special,” said Matt Moore, Commissioner of the MHL. “Summerside has a proud hockey tradition and a proven track record of hosting major sporting events. We’re excited to bring our players, alumni and fans together in Summerside for this special celebration.”
The City looks forward to welcoming MHL players, alumni and fans to Summerside as the League celebrates this milestone season and its rich history of hockey across the Maritimes.
