CITY OF SUMMERSIDE ANNOUNCES 2024 HERITAGE AND CULTURAL AWARD RECIPIENTS

SUMMERSIDE, PE The City of Summerside has announced the 2024 Heritage and Culture Awards, recognizing outstanding individuals and groups for their contributions to the city's cultural and heritage landscape. Recipients were selected by a community committee, reflecting growing activity in the region.

2024 Award Highlights:

  • Paul Gallant: Playwriting and direction of Port-la-Joye

  • Noella Moore: Exhibit The Creator’s Gift

  • Jane Whitten: Exhibit Of Growing Concern

  • Carter Jeffery & Arnold Smith: Folk art exhibit of Kerras Jeffery

  • David La Gallant: Mural of The Irony of History

  • Arnold Gallant: Historical research

  • Kiele Poirier: Inclusive art programming

  • George K. Jomon: Canada–India Multicultural Festival

  • Constable Mallory Metallic: Indigenous cultural awareness

  • St. Eleanor’s Community School: Community programming

  • Harbourfront Players: Production of An ALL-OUT Island Christmas

2024 Special Awards:

  • Volunteer of the Year: Donna Arsenault

  • Publication of the Year: Carolyn McKillop

  • Culture Award of Honour: Mary Dennis

  • Heritage Award of Honour: Paul H. Schurman

The awards will be presented at the Mayor’s Tea on Thursday, February 20, at City Hall's Council Chamber. The public is welcome to attend.
